Follow-Up Cadence
A plain-language definition of follow-up cadence and why consistent timing matters for multifamily leasing operations.
Definition
A follow-up cadence is the planned sequence of messages, timing, and next steps used to keep a leasing or resident conversation moving. In multifamily operations, it can apply after an inquiry, missed tour, completed tour, inactive lead, renewal notice, or other key event. A good cadence makes clear when to reach out, what to say, and when a team member should step in.
Example
A prospect misses a scheduled tour. The community sends a rescheduling message two hours later, then follows up again at 48 hours, six days, and twelve days with available tour times if the prospect has not responded.
Why It Matters?
Follow-up cadence matters because inconsistent outreach can cause qualified prospects or residents to go quiet without a clear next step. Standard timing and templates help teams maintain consistent communication across communities, reduce manual variation, and make it easier to spot where responses are lagging.
