Cookie Policy
MLE Software LLC, doing business as Accolade (Accolade, we, us, or our), uses cookies and similar technologies on accoladehq.com, including www.accoladehq.com (the website). This policy explains the technologies we use, their purposes, and your choices.
This policy covers our public website. It does not describe tracking within our customer applications or resident services. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains our broader personal-information practices and your privacy rights.
1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. They help a website recognize a browser across page views and return visits. A session cookie expires when its session ends; a persistent cookie remains until it expires or is deleted.
Local storage and session storage also save information in your browser. Session-storage entries are cleared when you close the tab. Local-storage entries have no built-in expiration date and remain until you, your browser, or the website clears them.
A first-party cookie is associated with the website you visit. A third-party service can use first-party cookies to collect information, so blocking third-party cookies alone does not stop the analytics described below.
2. Why we use these technologies
We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand website visits and interactions and to improve the website. We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure and improve our LinkedIn advertising. These technologies are optional: the website works without them. We also store a small number of preferences, such as video-player settings.
Which of these technologies run depends on where you visit from. Section 5.1 explains the difference.
We do not use third-party identity-resolution services on the website to match visitors against external identity or email databases. The only identification we perform ourselves is the form-submission association described in Section 2.2. LinkedIn's matching of visits to LinkedIn members is described in Section 2.3.
2.1 Google Analytics
Google Analytics uses identifiers in cookies, including
_ga and _ga_*, to distinguish visitors and sessions and measure website use.We have turned off Google signals. We do not use Google Analytics advertising features, and we do not ask Google to associate your visits to our website with your Google account.
Learn more about Google's use of information from partner sites.
2.2 PostHog analytics and session recordings
PostHog uses
ph_* cookies, local storage, and session storage to recognize visitors and measure page views, clicks, and other interactions, including aggregated click and scroll maps. PostHog data is sent through a path on our own domain (www.accoladehq.com/ingest) before it reaches PostHog, so browser tools that block third-party domains may not block it.We also use PostHog to record website sessions. A recording captures mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and page content, together with technical diagnostics such as browser console messages and page-load timing. We use recordings to understand how people use the website and to fix problems.
We configure session recordings to mask everything typed into form fields, so those entries are not captured in the recordings. This masking applies to the recordings; it does not prevent us from receiving information you intentionally submit through a form.
If you submit a form, we use PostHog to associate your earlier visits on this website with the email address you provide. This lets us connect your website activity with your form submission. The email association is separate from recording what you type into a form field. As a result, this activity should not be treated as anonymous.
For more information about the provider, see PostHog's Privacy Policy.
2.3 LinkedIn Insight Tag
The LinkedIn Insight Tag is a script from LinkedIn that we load through Google Tag Manager. It lets us measure whether our LinkedIn advertising leads to website visits and form submissions, show our advertising on LinkedIn to people who have visited the website, and see aggregated professional attributes of our visitors, such as industry and job function.
The tag sends LinkedIn information about your visit, including the page address, referring page, IP address, device and browser characteristics, and the time of the visit. LinkedIn uses its own cookies to match visits to LinkedIn members. LinkedIn does not tell us who you are; the reports we receive are aggregated. LinkedIn uses this information for its own advertising purposes as well as ours.
This is advertising, not only measurement. Section 5.4 explains how to turn it off. See LinkedIn's Cookie Policy for LinkedIn's own description.
3. Cookies and browser storage we use
In the names below,
<project> is our PostHog project identifier and <measurement-id> is our Google Analytics measurement ID. Cookies are set for accoladehq.com and its subdomains.Technology | Provider | Purpose | Browser lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga cookie | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors using a browser identifier. | Up to 2 years from your most recent visit. Many browsers shorten this; Chrome caps it at 400 days. |
_ga_<measurement-id> cookie | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for website measurement. | Up to 2 years from your most recent visit, subject to the same browser caps. |
ph_<project>_posthog cookie | PostHog | Stores visitor, device, and session identifiers used for analytics, session recordings, and the form-submission association described above. | 365 days, renewed on each visit. |
ph_<project>_posthog_cpm cookie | PostHog | Supports the PostHog analytics cookie above. | 365 days. |
ph_<project>_posthog and ph_<project>_posthog__flags local-storage entries | PostHog | Store analytics identifiers, settings, and related state between visits. | No built-in expiration; persist until cleared. |
ph_<project>_* session-storage entries | PostHog | Track the current tab and session for analytics and recordings. | Until you close the tab. |
li_fat_id, li_giant, and ln_or cookies | LinkedIn Insight Tag (set on our domain) | Identify a LinkedIn member or member group indirectly for conversion measurement and retargeting; ln_or records whether LinkedIn website analytics can run. | 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day. |
li_adsId local-storage entry | LinkedIn Insight Tag (set on our domain) | Stores a LinkedIn advertising identifier for the browser. | No built-in expiration; persists until cleared. |
bcookie, lidc, li_gc, li_sugr, UserMatchHistory, and AnalyticsSyncHistory cookies | LinkedIn (set on linkedin.com) | Identify the browser, match it to LinkedIn's advertising identifiers, select a data center, and store LinkedIn's own guest consent state. | From 24 hours to 1 year, as set by LinkedIn. |
accolade_privacy cookie | Accolade | Records that your visit comes from a region where the analytics and advertising technologies above are on by default. It holds no identifier. | 1 year. |
announcement_dismissed cookie | Accolade | Records that you closed the announcement bar. It holds no identifier. | 1 day. |
media-chrome-pref-muted local-storage entry | Accolade (video player) | Remembers whether you muted website videos. | No built-in expiration; persists until cleared. |
The Google Analytics and PostHog entries are first-party storage used by third-party providers. The linkedin.com cookies are third-party cookies. Google Tag Manager loads the LinkedIn script and does not set cookies of its own. Browser restrictions and your settings can shorten their lifetime.
Website videos are streamed by Mux, and website images are delivered by Sanity. Your browser connects to those providers to load that content. The video player is configured with Mux cookies and tracking disabled, and neither provider sets cookies on the website.
4. How long information is kept
The browser lifetimes above are separate from how long we or our providers retain information already collected. Deleting a cookie or local-storage entry does not, by itself, delete previously collected analytics, session recordings, or information associated with your email address.
- •Google Analytics. Google keeps event-level data tied to cookie identifiers for 14 months. Aggregated reports are kept longer and do not identify you.
- •PostHog events and profiles. We keep PostHog analytics events and visitor profiles for 12 months.
- •PostHog session recordings. We keep session recordings for 30 days.
- •LinkedIn. LinkedIn states that it retains Insight Tag data in identifiable form for a short period and then keeps it in de-identified form; see LinkedIn's Cookie Policy for its current periods.
We delete or de-identify information sooner when you ask us to and the law requires it. Information held in backups or under a legal hold is deleted when the backup cycle or hold ends.
5. Your choices
5.1 How we apply these technologies by region
We do not use a cookie banner. Instead, we decide what runs based on the country your visit appears to come from.
- •European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies or browser storage, we do not record sessions, and we do not load Google Analytics or the LinkedIn Insight Tag. PostHog counts page views and interactions for the current visit only, without storing anything on your device. If we cannot determine your country, we treat your visit this way.
- •Everywhere else, including the United States. The technologies in this policy are on by default. You can turn them off using the controls in Sections 5.2 to 5.4.
5.2 Browser controls
You can use your browser's privacy or site-data settings to block or delete cookies and clear local storage for this website. Blocking third-party cookies alone does not block our first-party analytics cookies, and deleting cookies alone leaves PostHog's local storage in place.
Deleting stored data does not prevent it from being created again during a later visit. Your choices apply separately in each browser and on each device. Clearing site data also removes any opt-out preference stored in that browser.
5.3 Google and LinkedIn controls
Google offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. LinkedIn members can turn off advertising based on third-party website visits in their LinkedIn advertising settings, and visitors without a LinkedIn account can use LinkedIn's guest opt-out. These controls have different scopes: each applies only to that provider, and neither disables PostHog.
5.4 Advertising opt-out and other privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to opt out of certain uses or disclosures. To make a request, follow the instructions in our Privacy Policy.
Our use of the LinkedIn Insight Tag may be a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising", under some U.S. state privacy laws. You can opt out in two ways. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not load the LinkedIn Insight Tag for that browser. You can also email legal@accoladehq.com to opt out. We do not sell personal information for money.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website or use of these technologies changes. We will post the updated policy here and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent before using information or technologies for a new purpose. Where the law requires consent, we do not treat continued browsing as consent.
