Pre-tour / Post-tour
Pre-tour and post-tour define prospect stages before and after a multifamily property tour, helping teams guide leads toward applications.
Definition
Pre-tour and post-tour are stages in the multifamily leasing process. Pre-tour refers to engaging a prospective renter before they view the community, with the goal of getting them to schedule or complete a tour. Post-tour refers to follow-up after the prospect has toured but before they start an application, with the goal of helping them take the next leasing step.
Example
A prospect submits a guest card for a one-bedroom apartment. Before the tour, the leasing team sends reminders and answers questions about parking, pets, and availability; after the tour, they record the tour outcome, note which units were shown, and follow up with application instructions and relevant floor plan details.
Why It Matters?
Separating pre-tour from post-tour helps operations leaders manage the leasing funnel more clearly. It allows teams to measure whether prospects are getting to tours, whether tours are converting to applications, and where follow-up or staffing processes need improvement.
