Processing queue
A processing queue holds multifamily tasks or messages until they can be prioritized, routed, and completed.
Definition
A processing queue is a structured waiting line for work that has been received but not yet completed. In multifamily operations, it can hold items such as applications, work orders, resident messages, or status updates until the right person, system, or workflow is ready to handle them. Queues help teams process work in order, apply priorities, and avoid losing tasks during busy periods or handoffs.
Example
A resident submits a maintenance request after quiet hours. The work order is logged and categorized, but the resident notification is placed in a processing queue and sent the next morning during approved communication hours.
Why It Matters?
Processing queues help operations leaders create consistency across properties by making sure incoming work is captured, prioritized, routed, and tracked. They also reduce coordination risk when request volume spikes, systems are temporarily unavailable, or a task needs to wait for a person, vendor, or downstream system.
