Booking type

Booking type defines whether in-person apartment tours are scheduled at the community level or with specific leasing agents.

Definition

A booking type is a scheduling setting that determines whether an in-person apartment tour is booked at the building/community level or with a specific agent. Building-level booking uses the property’s shared availability, while agent-level booking routes the tour to an available staff member. If agent-level booking is used and no agent is available for a time, that time should not be offered to prospects.

Example

A regional leasing team changes a community’s in-person tour booking type from Building to Agent so prospects are scheduled with specific leasing associates. After the change, the team manually reviews previously booked tours because older reservations are not automatically reassigned to individual agents.

Why it matters

Booking type affects staffing, calendar accuracy, and the prospect experience. For operations leaders, the right setting helps align tour demand with actual team availability, reduce scheduling conflicts, and support more personalized leasing follow-up.
