Compliance inspection

A compliance inspection is a review of a property, unit, common area, process, or required documentation to confirm it meets applicable rules, standards, or internal requirements. In housing operations, inspections may check the inside and outside of buildings, units, common areas, and health-and-safety conditions. Findings are typically documented, assigned a status or severity, and followed by corrective work when something does not pass.

A regional maintenance leader schedules a compliance inspection for a HUD-assisted community. The inspection covers occupied units, building exteriors, and common areas; any failed items are documented, and follow-up work orders are created for repairs before reinspection.

Compliance inspections help operations leaders reduce risk, protect residents, and keep properties aligned with regulatory and internal standards. They also create an auditable record of what was checked, what failed, who is responsible, and whether corrective work was completed.
