Conversational AI

Conversational AI helps multifamily teams answer routine questions, support workflows, and route resident or prospect requests across channels.

Definition

Conversational AI is software that uses artificial intelligence to understand a person's question and respond in a natural, back-and-forth way. In multifamily operations, it can support conversations across channels such as chat, text, email, voice, and resident portals. It is most useful when it connects the conversation to an operational workflow, such as answering leasing questions, collecting information, routing requests, or escalating complex issues to a team member.

Example

A prospect texts after hours asking whether a two-bedroom apartment is available, what the pet policy is, and how to schedule a tour. Conversational AI can answer the routine questions, collect the prospect's contact details and preferences, schedule or help route the tour request, and escalate to the leasing team if the prospect asks something that requires human review.

Why it matters

Conversational AI matters because leasing and resident teams receive high volumes of repeatable questions across multiple channels. When routine information sharing and initial inquiries are handled consistently, onsite and centralized teams can spend more time on higher-impact work, in-person service, and exceptions that require judgment.
