Inspection

An inspection is a structured check of a property, building, unit, or item against established standards. In multifamily operations, it is often documented with sections, items, ratings, notes, photos, status, assignees, and follow-up work. Inspections can support routine maintenance, unit turns, resident charge documentation, asset management, or reviews after damage events.

During a move-out, a technician inspects the unit by room, rates each item’s condition, adds photos and notes for damaged carpet, and submits the inspection. The operations team then reviews the inspection, assigns related work orders, and uses the documented findings to support any resident charges.

Inspections help operations leaders standardize how property conditions are documented across teams and locations. They also create a practical record for tracking progress, assigning or rescheduling work, reviewing final scores, and connecting inspection findings to work orders.
