Override

An override is a manual change that replaces an automated recommendation, default setting, or system-generated assignment. In multifamily operations, overrides can apply to pricing recommendations, AI handoff rules, calendar assignments, or document classifications. Overrides are useful when local knowledge or policy requires an exception, but they should be tracked so leaders can see where automation or rules need improvement.

A revenue manager reviews a system-recommended rent increase for a unit but lowers the price because recent local traffic disruptions are reducing demand. That manual change is an override and would count toward the property’s override rate.

Overrides give teams flexibility, but frequent overrides can signal that a workflow, pricing model, setting, or knowledge base is not matching on-site reality. Tracking overrides helps operations leaders spot patterns, improve rules and training, and decide where automation needs adjustment.
