Resident Feedback

Resident feedback captures resident input on the living experience so property teams can improve service, satisfaction, and retention.

Definition

Resident feedback is the input residents share about their experience living at a community, such as surveys, comments, reviews, service-request follow-ups, and renewal conversations. It helps property teams understand what is working, where residents are frustrated, and which issues need attention. In multifamily operations, effective resident feedback is ongoing, timely, and tied to action rather than treated as a once-a-year survey.

Example

After several residents mention slow updates on maintenance requests, the operations team reviews work-order communication practices, adds status updates at key steps, and follows up with residents after completion to confirm satisfaction.

Why it matters

Resident feedback gives operations leaders direct insight into maintenance quality, communication gaps, amenity needs, and sources of resident dissatisfaction. When teams acknowledge and act on feedback, they can improve resident satisfaction, support renewals, protect reputation, and prioritize operational improvements based on real resident input.
