A tour is an in-person or virtual visit where a prospective renter views an apartment unit or community. In multifamily leasing, tours may be staff-led, virtual, or self-guided, depending on the property’s operating model and access process. Tours are a key step between initial interest and application.

A prospect schedules a Saturday afternoon self-guided tour, receives access instructions, walks the model unit and amenity areas, and then submits an application after the leasing team follows up.

Tours help operations leaders understand leasing demand, staffing needs, and conversion performance. Tracking scheduled tours, completed tours, no-shows, and tour-to-application rates can reveal whether marketing, follow-up, access, or property presentation needs improvement.
