Work-based project

A work-based project is a planned maintenance project built around a work order template instead of an inspection template. It defines the type of work to be done, the work order description, estimated duration, required specialty or position, and any related property assets. It can also include scheduling, recurrence, due dates, priority, and optional assignment details so the work is generated and tracked consistently.

A regional maintenance leader creates a weekly common-area grill service project for each property. The project uses a work order issue for the BBQ grill area, includes instructions to clean and restock supplies, estimates 30 minutes, assigns the porter role, links the grill and fire pit assets, and repeats every Saturday.

Work-based projects help operations teams turn recurring maintenance needs into standardized, schedulable work. This improves consistency across properties, makes labor planning easier, and reduces the chance that routine asset care or amenity upkeep is missed.
