Identity Verification

Identity verification is the process of confirming that a rental applicant is who they claim to be. In multifamily operations, it can include checking a government ID, comparing a selfie or biometric check to the ID, reviewing database records, and resolving discrepancies before approval. It is often part of tenant screening, fraud prevention, and application underwriting.

A leasing team sends an applicant a verification link after tour scheduling. Before the application is approved, staff confirm the applicant’s government ID is valid, the submitted information matches the applicant profile, and any failed or expired verification is completed or re-sent.

Identity verification helps operations leaders reduce the risk of stolen, synthetic, or misrepresented identities entering the leasing process. It also creates a more consistent workflow for site teams by showing verification status, helping staff know when to proceed, pause, or request more information.
